The Shelbourne Hotel GO

In Real Life:

The Shelbourne Hotel was named by its founder, Martin Burke, after William, second Earl of Shelbourne. With such a promising beginning and stylish address, Burke was inspired to build one of the most elegant hotel in Europe.

The legendary hotel has been an intrinsic part of Dublin's literacy, culinary and artistic tradition since 1824. It is located right in the heart of Dublin, on the south side of the River Liffey and directly opposite St. Stephen's Green. Now closed for a year-long renovation, this grande dame graces the north side of St. Stephen's, resplendent in its broad, ornamented, pink-and-white, mid-victorian facade. The hotel was one of the first buildings of its period to have indoor electric lighting, and since then has consistently set the standards which other hotels have followed.

In 1922, the hotel played an important part in the founding of the Irish nation, when the Irish Constitution was drafted in room 112, now known as The Constitution Room. In more recent times, the hotel has continued to remain ahead of the rest, offering a fabulous standard of facilities, comfort and service. The Shelbourne is the perfect base for exploring the many delights of the vibrant city it calls home.
