About Keiko Takamura:

Takamura Keiko lives "all over the place" in California. She goes by her family name first, as is proper to do in Japan, but you can call her Keiko. It's shorter.

She started writing songs in high school and never really found a better outlet for expressing her frustrations with college ("Personal Statement"), stuck-up roommates ("Flesh and Hollow"), and boys that only want to be f..k-buddies ("I Saw It Coming"). Amongst many, many other things.

In 2005, she studied abroad in Tokyo as an exchange student through UC Santa Barbara. The classes were easy, and gave her enough free time to stumble upon Second Life, where she met Derek Tones and Erik Pasternak of (at the time known as) Multiverse Records.

Currently, with the help of friends and support of other SL musicians, Keiko is working up the courage to play RL gigs.

Influences:

Portishead, Tori Amos, Shiina Ringo, Alanis Morrisette, No Doubt, Garbage, Hole, Poe, Beangrowers, Sneaker Pimps, Enon, Blonde Redhead, Dressy Bessy, The Cardigans, Veruca Salt, The Breeders, Bjork, Splashdown, and quite possibly every other band with a female lead vocalist. 90's alternative rock bands, all of them. For better or for worse.
